I expected tracking, I may have expected a werewolf would be involved too, but I didn't expect...everything. There's just so much more then the synopsis gives. I love how the layers in this plot start to pile on and weave together. We meet so many magical creatures and communities who will inevitably be part of the larger story or possible war. I knew there would be a love interest(s) but I wasn't ready for the danger, the magical communities, the elf prince (mysterious and yummy. I'd like his story!), the mystery of Jake the loner, loss of a father (need more on that), substitute father and the betrayal that's finally revealed in the end. Clearly Toni is so much more. It was interesting that she loses her senses if she uses them for tracking. Almost like her ability is a gift and a curse. With the surprise ending I'm wondering if it doesn't have to be that way? I'm wondering so much about this storyline that I had to return a book in my line up so I could get the 2nd book in the series ready. Great story! Totally lost in this book! A definite read!
